Doubling-up with Two GDUSA Package Design Awards

We’re bringing home the award bacon! And when we say bacon, we mean fair, organic grains and world-changing nut butters. With two American Package Design Awards, GDUSA has recognized our work with Farmer Direct Co-op bulk and shelf grains packaging and Yumbutter creamy nut butter jars.

“The GDUSA awards competition celebrates well-designed graphics, of course, but also the power of design to advance the brand and forge an emotional connection with the buyer at the moment of truth.” —Graphic Design USA

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!

What makes this kind of recognition most exciting is that we’re celebrating two purpose-driven brands making our world a better and tastier place to live.

For Farmer Direct, we set out to create a package befitting of the brand’s bold mission of providing 100% Farmer-Owned, Fair Trade, and Organic grains at an affordable price. It was essential to educate consumers about the depth of Farmer Direct’s pioneering practices to celebrate both the high-quality product and the dedicated farmers that produce it. Building off the initial success of Farmer Direct’s bulk-size product, the shelf-series packaging launched in a nationwide Whole Foods Market exclusive. The results were extraordinary: 100,000 units were sold in the first two months—more than double projected sales—resulting in multiple re-orders to meet demand.

For Yumbutter, we were building on previous success of our award winning work for the company's 7-ounce pouches. Now we were out to further develop the brand and expand the number of right-sized options for customers. The vibrant designs of the 10-ounce jar series reflect the clean, fun, and fair ingredients inside each jar and remind customers that the nut butters are made with infinite love to fuel a beautiful life. We can't wait for these 10-ouncers to hit the shelves for customers to enjoy.

These awards are a total team effort. A big thanks goes out to the forward-thinking teams at Farmer Direct and Yumbutter for helping us eat better while supporting fair work and nutrition worldwide. And to the judges of the GDUSA American Package Design Awards for shining a light on the collaborative effort to create delicious designs that make for a more sustainable future.
