Restoring Faith in Humanity
I watch the news every morning that I’m in the gym. This is a terrible way to start the day, but I feel like I must be informed or suffer the consequences of ignorance. Today, while watching politicians argue, I thought, “I wonder if people would get along better if they weren’t constantly told that they don’t get along.” That’s why my heart was warmed when reading about a Dutch company that crowd-funds positive-message advertisements.
Spredbudskabet.dk makes these positive advertisements and videos in advance, then citizens go to their website to pledge money to get them published. The beauty of this is that when a citizen sees one of these advertisements that, say, supports homosexual parents, it's saying that the majority of Dutch citizens believe this enough to actually pay for that advertisement to be put up. How awesome is that? This isn't a newscaster stating the general feeling of the nation based on their poll numbers. This is positive stuff, professionally done, and supported by average citizens. Who says marketing is evil?
Though the site is written in Dutch, you can visit Google's Translator, pop in the Spredbudskabet.dk url and hit enter to get a translated page and see what projects are currently being funded.
