—Sustainability Report

Organic Valley

As a farmer-owned cooperative producing and selling organic dairy and meat products, CROPP Cooperative (which includes the Organic Valley and Organic Prairie brands) is inherently sustainable and ethical, but they don't let that stop them from doing more good. So in this second edition of their sustainability report, we had the pleasure of helping tell their story of continuous improvement in a fun and engaging way. Starting with a solid creative brief provided by the CROPP team, we worked with them to establish a clear pagination and content flow to perfectly fit the report, and bonus folded-poster, onto two press sheets – keeping the costs down and footprint low.

“Modern Species has designed both of our public sustainability reports. Their contribution was far more than just design though. They are able to take my vague ideas about the story I want to tell and give it life and do so beautifully. I couldn’t ask for more from a design firm.”

Visually, we decided to build upon the sustainability report we had designed for them the previous year by keeping a similar design structure, but evolving the design to fit the new copy style of this year's report (lots of fun facts instead of long paragraphs). With the addition of some hand-written type and a two-sided, perforated, tear-out poster, the goal of this report was to better engage Organic Valley's audience in a fun, friendly way. The accompanying social media campaign provides their audience with sharable facts and the PowerPoint version of the report helps the sales team talk about sustainability with fun visuals. The end result is a sustainability report that doesn't feel like homework to read.
